Barkingside Tube Station

Barkingside Tube station was originally opened in May 1903. It was closed to passenger traffic temporarily because of World War I economies from 21 May 1916 until 30 June 1919.

The Great Eastern Railway was merged with other railway companies in 1923 and became part of (LNER) London & North Eastern Railway as a consequence of the 1921 Railways Act.

Barkingside stations with its ornate canopies still in place is now a Grade II listed building marking it as a structure of architectural significance.
